Sooner or Later

The threat of my job being offshored to a low cost country came up again at a work meeting after my boss came back from a trip to India. It's not the first time I've heard this. We can keep raising the bar, but eventually we'll reach the ceiling and India or any low cost country will be able to produce the same or surpass onshore quality. When this happens, we'll have to change careers. I thought about what my next career would be and all I could think of was going back to the restaurant business. Imagine the irony of that. All my life I wanted to get as far away from the restaurant biz as possible and I may end up back in it. One thing's for sure: you can't offshore the restaurant industry! It's either that or live in India and be paid local wages... haha. Ok, well kidding aside, I'm sure there'll always be a local need for designers but large companies may opt to go overseas for design talent to deliver on the bottom line for their shareholders. In any case, I'm not going to stress over it. Whatever happens, happens.

Here's a really cool left brain vs. right brain test that someone recently emailed me. It really makes your mind go loopy (without the drugs).
