Friday evening it began to hail and then a strike of lightening led to a deep thunderous roar – one that could be felt under your toes. It only happened once, which is strange, but apparently thunderstorms are rare in these parts. I walked to the grocery store down the block as it rained and when I came out five minutes later it was snowing. When I reached home, all I could see out the window was a sea of white. By morning the city was covered with a light dusting that disappeared as quickly as it came by late afternoon.

Sarah wrote to tell me that an earthquake happened in the middle of the night by her and that the world is ending. Her theory is that China is causing this strange weather pattern due to the Olympics. I'm afraid I can't elaborate (if her theory is indeed correct) for fear of undesirable consequences. Let's just keep it at that.

Well, that was not the first thought in my mind. The sky will have to be falling and the earth break open through its center before I am convinced that it's the end of the world. And before that happens, I'll just be enjoying the view.
