Vancouver Zombie Walk
Last weekend I decided to check out the Vancouver Zombie Walk. What a gruesome sight! With so many zombies streaming through downtown, it seemed as though Vancouver was under attack. Imagine, you’re enjoying a nice and sunny Saturday afternoon at the beach when suddenly hordes of zombies appear full of blood, guts and gore. If you didn’t know this was an annual event for folks to put on their best zombie face, you might just run and scream for your life.

Celebration of Light
The Celebration of Light kicked off on Saturday in Vancouver with China’s display of fireworks. The first time I watched the fireworks show was four years ago and I was pretty certain that it would be the last time unless I knew a friend who lived in a high rise with a great view near the area.
If you don’t mind the crowds and the gridlock afterwards, then it’s worth watching. This time around I really wanted to photograph the fireworks with my dslr camera. I decided to take them from a bridge where I could get a good vantage point. Even though I got there an hour early, there were already quite a number of folks waiting on the bridge. Luckily, I still found a good spot to plop down my tripod and take some shots.

A Walk in the Bog
It was raining most of the day in Tofino on the second day we were there. Though at times the rain was practically a downpour, we didn’t want to waste our time stuck in doors. So we decided to take a walk in the bog and explore the unique habitat of the area. It was difficult taking photos while holding an umbrella, but since we were the only crazy ones on the trail, I didn’t have to worry about blocking people on the boardwalk.

Old Bunk House
In Steveston near the old cannery are some old bunk houses where the fishermen used to live. It’s quite neat to visit since you get to see how they lived back then. The houses are small, but everything they needed, they had in that house. Most of the fishermen who lived there were of Chinese or Japanese descent.

Fishing Dog
You know how they say that pets often look like their owners? This dog certainly resembled the Frenchman who was selling his catch of the day. He stood by quietly watching his owner and the group of people that had gathered around their boat buying fish.

Covered in Green
On the way to Tofino, there is a rest area near Port Alberni on either side of the main road. Travelers can stop to stretch their legs and admire the tall trees in Cathedral Grove. Trails take people inside the grove where magnificent Douglas Firs stand. Almost everything in the grove is covered in moss.
