Spring is in the air

A few weeks ago tulips were in full bloom around the city of Vancouver. It’s always a lovely sight to see.

A Walk in the Bog

It was raining most of the day in Tofino on the second day we were there. Though at times the rain was practically a downpour, we didn’t want to waste our time stuck in doors. So we decided to take a walk in the bog and explore the unique habitat of the area. It was difficult taking photos while holding an umbrella, but since we were the only crazy ones on the trail, I didn’t have to worry about blocking people on the boardwalk.

This is an exterior view of the bunkhouses. It seems like such a quaint little village with the bunkhouses connected to boardwalks that lead to the nearby cannery and ship yard.

Old Bunk House

Old bunk house

In Steveston near the old cannery are some old bunk houses where the fishermen used to live. It’s quite neat to visit since you get to see how they lived back then. The houses are small, but everything they needed, they had in that house. Most of the fishermen who lived there were of Chinese or Japanese descent.

You know how they say that pets often look like their owners? This dog certainly resembled the Frenchman who was selling his catch of the day. He stood by quietly watching his owner and the group of people that had gathered around their boat buying fish.

Rain or shine, people can still appreciate the towering giants and its quiet yet immense ecosystem. There’s nothing like stretching your legs at this convenient rest stop in the woods.
